He roars like the lion he is

He is only three and a quarter, our little Bowler, but he roars like a lion. He is the genuine article, born in August under the Leo sign.

He fights with his big brother the Batsman, in the way that brothers do. It's usually a disagreement over trains or which DVD will be next on the playlist.
Sometimes there is a fight because the Bowler is roaring his lion roar and it is just too damn loud for the Batsman to tolerate.

Even with the fighting, these two adore each other and spend hundreds of happy hours in each other's company. This week a request even came for them to share the same bedroom.
I can't describe how happy it makes me to witness the brotherly relationship grow.

And tonight I witnessed something that made my heart burst open even more.
Picture this.

Family BBQ. It nears the end. 8:30pm. Everyone is tired.
The Batsman is trying to avoid the noise of all the other cousins.
He is curled up on the couch with an electronic game but the tickling and poking and giggling of the girl cousins is relentless. The Batsman tries to fend them off but is becoming overwhelmed and the tears are just at the brim.
Enter the Bowler, hands on hips, roaring.
"Stop doing that to my brother. That's not nice. You're making my brother upset".
They stopped.

Roar little boy. There is going to be more of that needed around these parts.
