four years

It's four years since our beautiful boy's diagnosis of autism. Four years of love, challenge, tears, achievement, joy and growth. We have entered a different phase with him now. There are still things that are hard, things to strive for and work on, but there is time to breathe and more importantly than anything, time and energy to appreciate him and his quirky delights and the robust fun of his younger brother too. We can look back a little now and reflect on how far we have come and say out loud that we have done a great job. This morning the Captain sent me this note -

Four years ago today we started on the journey for our beautiful big man. How far we have ALL come! Thank you for being the best advocate he could ever have wished for & may he continue to shine bright. 

I'm a lucky mama. We are so very fortunate and grateful for our boys and for the life we have together as a family.
