Happy new year wishes

Here we are at the very last day of another year.

It’s been a big and busy year at our house.
The Batsman has completed his ABA program at home. It finished just over a week ago. That feels weird.
He has completed a really successful school transition too and we have just about knocked the stuttering issue out of the ball park. I am utterly exhausted but so happy and grateful for how far our boy has travelled, how far we have all come.

Almost three years have passed since I began to write The I Love You Song. When I reflect on the year about to leave us, I know the opportunity to express myself and tell the story of our journey with the Batsman is one of the biggest personal gifts I have received. I hope that one day he might be able to read it and understand just how much we all love him.

Do feel welcome to tell me if there are posts or topics you would like to see more (or less) of in 2013. I pretty much just pour my heart out here but if there are particular things you would like me to write about then please, let me know.

And so to the new year. Every year at about this time, I wonder whether I ‘should’ be setting goals for the time ahead. When I write them down, they come out sounding less like goals and more like wishes but I reckon that’s ok. And what I wish for me is what I wish for you too….

Love.
Courage.
Energy.
Strides forward – big ones and little ones.
Some fun and laughter.
A little break when one is needed.
Supportive family and friends.
Gutsy advocacy.
Autism awareness on the rise.
Awesome teachers.
Time to reflect.
And maybe, just maybe, a tiny little place of peace in hearts and minds.
Happy New Year and thank you for being here with me.
